Because this task was social I thought I would engage in something practical rather than read a book as I felt this was the best way to approach the theme. Going out and talking to people is a massive thing for some people, but for others it's a normal thing that we do on a daily basis. One thing I have realised is that the longer you are away from people, the harder it is to socialise and bounce back to being confident and careless about it.
Starting my new job at Starbucks was nerve wracking, but at the same time it was exciting meeting new people and learning new things. When you realise that these people are equal to you no matter what things get a whole lot easier. All the same, when you don't know exactly what you're doing and in a new scary place with customers barking orders at you, It's going to get tense right? I realised that the best way to be with customers is to be friendly and socialise which has helped develop my people and listening skills tons over the past few weeks.
Before starting this job I found it difficult to talk to people I didn't know, look at people I didn't know properly etc and became if you would a recluse. Now I find myself talking to people I dont know out and about even if I dont have to. My trick now is to look at every single positive in each day and cherish it when you have moments to share your thoughts with people.
To conclude this practical work I have been doing, I just wanted to explain that I have been making myself talk to people and open myself up to people to help me on a personal level which has been extremely helpful and self satisfying as I haven't been hiding looking down at my phone.
