For week 6 the whole class were given the theme of Social. So I decided to focus on social surroundings I am involved in or see everyday but the twist to it is that each photo is the opposite to the last photo so one photo will be antisocial the next social and vice versa.
Day 36- Antisocial- When I was sat at work waiting to go on my shift, I saw a man gazing out the window sat on his own as if he was waiting for somebody to come and meet him. I was sat there for half an hour watching him and he still did not have anybody meet him. He looked tired and his face wasn't groomed as if he had been going through some problems which is what I judged anyway. Then I realised I'm sat directly at a 90 degree angle from him on my own too. Just shows that somebody could be looking at me the exact same way.
Day 37- Social- focusing on socialising I decided to take a photo whilst I was drinking tea with my friend in Costa. We realised that money is involved in a lot of socialising activities like coffee, drinks, food, going out etc which is why I took this photo. The angle of this photo clearly shows the way I'm sat and the fact that I'm sat with her rather than taking a photo from a different view.
Day 38- Antisocial- as I was waiting for my bus I noticed this teenager in front of me who was clearly nervous about being on his own in a busy place. I did want to know more about why he was nervous but didn't want to disrupt him in any way. He kept looking around him and checking so maybe he was waiting for someone too? I feel like the untold stories are the best sometimes, it keeps you wondering.
Day 39- Social- getting the bus is a regular occurrence for me and I notice that the elderly people are the easiest to talk to and they always seem to talk more with more confidence than the younger people who sit there staring at their phones. The woman sat next to this woman was genuinely happy when she started conversation as she looked like it would be awkward sitting so close to someone and not talking.
Day 40- Antisocial- some people don't like to talk to people when their out busy doing their shopping which is fine too as they are getting on with their day not wanting to be disturbed but the way this guy was holding himself was miserable and depressed. I took a black and white photo to show the silhouette of the man in the dark tunnel underneath the bus station to explore the mundane of everyday life.
Day 41-Social- When I was sat in a cafe I noticed these two very pretty ladies laughing with each other and joking so I took a picture as I was sat on a table behind them and it came out really well with the colours . You can see in the distance the ladies face confident and full of laughter with the sun shining on both of them which is what made this my favourite photo for this week.
Day 42- anti Social- The mundane bus station cafe that always looks dirty and unhygienic to me but alas people go there to eat as it's cheap and the staff are as friendly as ever. The reason I took a photo of the windows with the sun reflecting off these was because of the lady sat on her own behind the glass. The black shape she created is a big contrast to the bright yellows and bright lights surrounding the area.
To conclude this weeks photos I am suggesting that people that are socialising and Are more confident than people who are spending time on their own. In a way it was an experiment into how people are perceived when on their own and accompanied by other people.
