For this week I decided to look at commercialism and how food is represented in the industry rather than taking photos of food that is made at home. The presentation of the food is very important if customers are wanting to buy it but in restaurants although customers have ordered their food before seeing it its also vital that the food is presented well in order for people to pay the bill at the end.

Day 50- This was taken in a restaurant in Preston in which I went to with my family and my stepdad ordered chilli. The way that it was presented all separately with all the separate colours and shapes of the bowls really appealed to me. I also thought that for a restaurant the portions are quite big to what they usually are which I found unusual as its more about quality than quantity.

Day 51- This was taken at a Wetherspoons pub just to show the difference between restaurant food and pub food from the first photo, the portions are always bigger and I always find that the presentation of pub food is always different to high end restaurant food with the sizes colours everything.

Day 52- As a high end bakery, Patisserie Valerie prides itself on presentation and how their products look. Taking a photo of the cakes stacked neatly and all the different colours being lit up in the cake case really showed that they are proud of their products and they want to draw attention to them.

Day 53- Starbucks is also known as a high end company who have certain standards for how things are displayed which they use an example guide to show them how to present all food and drinks in the cafes. The lighting as well perfectly presents the food in a manner that people can see they pride themselves on quality.

Day 54- Latte art- something that has always been well presented and nice to look at; last elegant. The fact that the latte is made and you have to ruin it to drink it baffles me.

Day 55- Looking at a different environment in which food is presented in a more informal and practical way but it is cheaper is Preston market where people go for quantity rather than quality, still butchers pride themselves on their stock which is what we can see here as the people are looking at the meat wondering what the best deal is, butchers always have a deal or offer on which is something that more restaurants and high end places should do.

Day 56- Putting on a display in a shop window can be pressure when hundreds of people will be walking past everyday having a look not knowing what to expect but high end displays of delicious expensive food. That's why when people do this it always has to be perfectly presented for the customers eye. The bright colours are eye catching and can attract customers every day.
