For week 4 we got to choose our theme for what we took photos of and I thought it would be a good opportunity to do the complete opposite of what we did the previous week with family and focus on strangers in the general public. For this week i did a lot of travelling around on public transport to see how people's acted when they kept themselves to themselves in a rush to get to their destination.
Day 22- This was on my train to leyland and it was absolutely packed to the point where people couldn't even move to get on or off which was a bad experience but luckily it was only to leyland so it wasn't much trouble. Now usually when I see people buy food in a shop in the train station they save it and eat it privately when they are sat down but the reason I took a photo of this particular person is because he really didn't care what people thought he was just hungry so he did what he wanted despite the fact that people are that close you could breath on them. The reason I chose this photo for that day was because of the light on the ceiling shining into his face shaping his jaw to show he has his mouth full but he still has a serious expression. Also the fact that there is a lot going in in this photo like the man next to him looking away which is what he did throughout the whole of him eating his sandwich as if it was rude to watch him eating as a respect thing. Also the amount of people stood around and even in the rows where you shouldn't stand it was full which you can see by the hood peaking in at the left hand side of the image.
Day 23- This photograph was taken at Manchester Piccadilly station and it's through a window to the inside of the building as I am sat outside. The reason I took this is because he looked like he was supposed to be meeting someone and he kept looking round as if they had stood him up as I was sat here for around an hour behind him and when I left he was still sat there. I watched him quite closely and he kept checking his phone for texts and then putting it down when he hadn't received any and this is what gave me the feeling he was waiting around for somebody to meet him. The visuals of this please me because of the reflection of the window mostly which shows how much is physically going on around him while he is sat there watching the world go by. Also you can see people in the background blurred to show movement and some sort of rush.
Day 24- This was taken at Doncaster station and the reason I took this photo is because the subject seemed like he wanted to be younger than he is with the way he dressed with the chain and the headphones but then he contradicts himself by reading the paper and I don't see many young people reading the paper. The other reason why I like this photo is because you can see the whole station and and you have a view of the other platform too which is nice as the sun is shining.
Day 25- I took this photo because the lady in the chair was asleep and she looked absolutely exhausted. The reason this image was chosen for my everyday photo for this day was because of the background out the window. Everything's blurry and rushing with movement and she is sat still in peace sleeping. Also the colours really fascinated me too as there's darkness on the train but then lots of light outside.
Day 26- So the location of this photo is pretty explanatory as you can see the sign a Outside the train window. But the main focus is the little girl and her mother sleeping. The reason I took this is because the little girl was worried about the fact that they would miss their stop because her mum was asleep and she kept saying "mummy wake up we are gonna miss our stop" so it was like a role reversal in a ay as it was the child that was on her tablet looking at it as if she was doing something important and the parent that didn't have a care in the world sleeping.
Day 27- This is a true example of what most of our generation do when I public; get absorbed into our phones and forget to take in what's going on around us and to actually appreciate the real world rather than how many likes you get one of your Facebook photos. As I watched and counted I didn't realise how many protea tulle did this to escape gazing and watching people when I think it's fascinating to people watch. So the reason I liked this is because the subject is hiring her face with her scarf and she is hunched over as if she's trying to keep herself to herself. She was shivering but I remember that day to not be cold as I only had a hoody and leggings on so it shows that people feel different things in the same situations.
Day 28- As you can see this was taken on Preston market and I love this because it's like it's been shot in a different era like the 90s with the Burberry cap and the tracksuit. The reason why I love this shot is because you can see the degrading blue bar in front of him and it's just like he's in the background minding his own business in a more grungy area of town. Also the reason why I like this is because I have noticed that this style is becoming a major fashion trend again and to me it's a stylish tasteful photo.
To conclude this week I feel like this has gone well as rather than being up close to family I have looked at the opposite and gone from an outsiders point of view from how you see people to how they make you see them. All in all I am excited to start the next set of photos tomorrow for the theme of 'the room'.
