We were told to download an app onto our phones called drift but I downloaded two: one called Drift and one called Derive. At first I didn't understand what this was about but then I realised its all about exploring and not being afraid to get lost in a town you know really well. This app tells you directions and in order to complete the Derive you must follow each direction given.
Day 43- So I was doing the derive I noticed this lady walking up and down the path as if she was lost and she was getting frustrated. This is something I related to as when I first moved to Preston I found it difficult finding places too but you soon get to know places.
Day 44-I decided to explore and get lost in Manchester by going round all the back alleys and buildings and discovered this street that included tons of wall art and graffiti art which must have taken days to do, it's these things that are so under appreciated and hidden that mean the most.
Day 45- This was on a sunny day in Preston when I took this, this man clearly went on a trip that day with his dog and his bike as he was clearly prepared for it which then comes to theme of the derive again, going on an adventure. When I made this photo black and white it looked like solarisation style the streets and everything going on around him is why I loved this photo, it's so busy and has a lot going on.
Day 46- the next day I decided to have a walk round all the campus buildings to see the buildings that university had to offer that we hadn't used yet. Around this part people were rushing everywhere and there was traffic so I decided to take a photo near the Harrington building which I walk past sometimes but never go in or use it so wouldn't know what that building has to offer.
Day 47- I decided to go on a walk through Avenham park later on Nysa as it was starting to get to sunset and loved the shapes of the tree branches overcrowding the bridge and light sky. This gives the image a darker theme and shows more the silhouettes of the branches rather than like the detail of the floor and the bridge.
Day 48- Getting lost in a busy shopping centre was one of my photos as when you really look around you notice everything that's going on from families arguing to people waiting in a line in a coffee shop. If you take a minute to really look at the subjects and how they are acting and really people watch it gets interesting quickly.
Day 49- Walking down a long street that I haven't been down before on my own was exhilarating as I saw a few people turning down this street before but never explored it so I decided to walk down the long road to see where it took me. I ended up next to a lot of town houses which were beautiful then I turned back to head back to the town centre.
To conclude this I got some great photos by just going outside my comfort zone and exploring places that were near where I lived but I'd never noticed them before. Street photography was a major aspect of this weeks theme which shows that I am more ink inclined and better at shooting urban surroundings.
