If you hadn't already noticed, this artist inspired me for my project for week 3 with the close up portrait angles and the use of black and white imaging. The publication L'autre produced by Luc Delahaye and Jean Baudrillard focuses on urban portraiture and inspired me in many ways to make this my main direction for week 3s work which we were given the theme of 'Family'. Now I slightly contradict myself by saying I was completely inspired by this artist because alas; I took pictures of my loved ones and people closest to me which is not what the publication I have viewed is about. It's about images taken of people between '95 and '97 which Delahaye describes as 'stole' rather than has permission to do so like I did from my family.
Comparing my work to this work would be to say that I had permission to take these photos and the subject matters were fully aware of the photograph being taken. "The law states that everyone owns their own image. But our image, this worthless alias of ourselves , is everywhere without us knowing it." This book has baffled me as it explains the fact that while taking a photo of somebody and being the watcher, you are being watched at the same time by another watcher and so on. Here is a collage I put together of some of the pictures included in his book of the people he was spectating and recording at the time-

Below, I have taken pictures of some of the portraits in this book and added them together to make a collage of all the people as my own take on the front cover of the book but mixing it up a bit. The way the artist has made the book cover look is very neat and organising whereas my collage below is quite messy and busy which is the effect i wanted as it shows how rushed and manic the normal world is when you go outside.
